Ok, so the original name for this recipe was Sunday pancakes but seriously these pancakes are just so good that I've taken to calling them the best pancakes ever (just my opinion though) and they're especially good with a bit of maple syrup.
The addition of the lemon zest reminds me of the pancakes that my mum used to make - super thin and sprinkled with sugar and lemon, yum.
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp white sugar
Recently we were invited to a special little girl's 1st birthday party. I love sewing girly things when I get the chance and I think the hardest part is deciding what to make.
In the end I whipped up a sweet little toddler skirt. I think skirts are so versatile and can easily be dressed up or down and worn all year round.
It was really quick and easy to put together and I just love the orange chevron fabric. I normally prefer a wider waistband but the main part of the skirt uses just a fat quarter of fabric and I was worried that it might end up too short.
I don't often get a chance to sew with knits so when I spotted some knit fabric on the clearance table at Spotlight I just had to get some.
After some consideration I decided to make myself a skirt. I followed the instructions from here and adjusted the length to make a maxi skirt.
The top of the skirt is gathered before its attached to the yoga style waistband. I used my new walking foot for this project and it made such a difference to how the hem looks (remember the issues I had with the hem on this skirt).
I love how it turned out and doesn't the colour just scream Summer? Makes me happy just looking at it.
