(Blogtoberfest Day 31) Kiwi Christmas Ornament Swap

This year I've decided to take part in the Kiwi Christmas Ornament Swap.

This is my first swap and I can't wait to get started. I already have some ideas of what I'm going to do so I'll keep you posted.

If you'd like to join in then sign ups end on Friday the 5th of November.

Saturday's Swim

This term Saturday is swimming lesson day. Riley missed out last term and today just reminded me how important it is to keep up with them. A term may not seem like a long time to us but to Riley its ages and his water confidence always deteriorates quickly. I'm sure it won't take too long for him to get back into the swing of things though as long as we keep up with the lessons. Already after just one lesson we have seen some progress.

We were a little bit early today so Phil and Riley had some time to muck around in the pool.

And of course you can't go to the pool and not spend some time relaxing in the spa pool. Riley loves it!

(Blogtoberfest Day 29) Room Swap

Riley has a new room .....

After much thinking we decided that Riley would be better off having his bedroom in the playroom, as:

a) its a larger room
b) the power point wouldn't be down the side of his bed (I get paranoid about things like that)
c) he never really plays in the play room anyway so it was a bit of a waste
d) its further away from the lounge so we don't have to be as hush, hush when hes in bed

I've converted one of the hall cupboards into a toy cupboard and Riley's old room is now my sewing/craft room and very much still a work in progress.

Now I just need Riley to start Kindy so I have time to use it!

(Blogtoberfest Day 28) Balance Bike

Riley's Nanan and Grandad got him a balance bike for his birthday. He had a little go on it but wasn't sure about it as its very wobbly. I don't think his legs are quite long enough yet either for him to comfortably balance himself but he'll get there eventually.

Doesn't he look so cute and grown up though?!

(Blogtoberfest Day 27) Long Weekend ....

Labour Day has been and gone but the long weekend is still continuing at our house as Phil isn't back at work until next Tuesday.

We have Riley's Nanan and Grandad staying with us too and they have been a great help around the garden and house. Even setting up our vege patch for us! It will be so awesome once it gets going.

The weather has been pretty good and Riley's birthday is done and dusted for another year.

A very good weekend indeed.

Birthday Boy!!

I can't believe that Riley is 3 all ready! It only feels like yesterday when he came into our lives and turned our world upside down.

In just 3 short years he has gone from this:

..... to this:

Riley was a lot more aware of what was going on this year and as soon as he saw his presents paper started flying.

We spent most of the day at Orana Wildlife Park. We saw lots of animals but as usual the highlight would have to be the giraffes. Riley didn't want to leave them!

He also helped to feed a lamb and a calf.

We have had so many adventures together all ready and I'm sure there are many more to come.

Love you baby boy x

(Blogtoberfest Day 25) All Ready .....

Presents wrapped .... well mostly. I ran out of wrapping paper for some of the larger items so had to make do with plastic bags.

The helmet goes with ......

I think we've done really well with presents this year. I was determined not to get him too much as the trampoline was his main present but we still needed to cover all our bases.

He has:
- a couple of toys
- a few books
- stickers
- felts and journals for drawing in
- a puzzle
- an educational toy
- a game

The balance bike is from his Nanan and Grandad.

I can't wait til tomorrow now and we have a fun day planned with a trip to Orana Wildlife Park on the cards!

(Blogtoberfest Day 24) Party Time!

Riley's party went off without a hitch. I even had time to dress myself up a bit and put on some make up.

It wasn't so much a party as a birthday lunch. Food, friends and fun. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and played nicely together for the most part. Riley acted up a little bit but it was a very long and exiting day for him so I'm going to put it down to that and fingers crossed that its not the start of the terrible threes!

What Do You Think Of My New Header?

Phil reckons its a pretty good representation of what I go through every day, LOL.

(Blogtoberfest Day 22) Zoe

This is a tribute to our cat, Zoe, who went missing in March this year .....

We got her from the SPCA when she was a kitten and she was with us for about 6 years. She was an outdoors cat which suited her just fine especially when Riley came along. There was only so much chasing that she could take and at least outside she had a better chance of getting away. I don't think Riley remembers her at all now. When she first went missing he'd occasionally go outside and call for her and he'd tell me that she was just over the fence, it wasn't unusual for her to hide from him. She never did come home though so we still don't know what happened to her and now that we've moved house we won't be seeing her again if she ever did decide to come home. I just really hope that she found a nice family and decided to stay with them as the other alternative is not very nice to think about.

She got into a few scraps in her time. A few of them serious enough for a large vet bill but thats one of the risks you take when you have such an independent pet.

Love You Zoe x

(Blogtoberfest Day 21) Online Shopping

I have a love hate relationship when it comes to doing my grocery shopping online.

I love that it saves time and helps preserve my sanity as I don't need to drag a whining toddler around the supermarket with me. Phil picks it up so I think $3.95 is a small price to pay really and thats $3.95 a fortnight as we do fortnightly shops. Also we've been using it for a while now and I actually think its cheaper or at least we seem to spend less compared to doing the shopping ourselves.

I hate that often they don't have what you want or the brands you like but for us thats not too bad as when Phil picks it up he can get anything extra.

I hate that the site is so confusing and hard to navigate so it takes me a while to do my shopping.

Overall a great time and sanity saver.
